Khimki was unbeaten until last night and coach Giorgos Bartzokas explained why this defeat can be a good lesson for his players.

Bartzokas was asked if Alexey Shved is 50% of Khimki’s game – even if despite his 23 points, the Russians were defeated 92-75 – and he replied with the following quote: “When Spanoulis plays at Olympiacos he is 70% of the team’s game. When you have a player like Shved, it’s obvious that he is one of the main pillars of our game”.

Khimki’s coach had to explain that his team, despite having quality, doesn’t have EuroLeague experience and that’s an issue: “We have newcomers in Europe, we don’t know what it means to play in this gym against Olympiacos, It was a good lesson for us. It was a mental problem for us today. We have to be concentrated, we had to travel. Everyone is saying that Khimki is a favorite for the Final Four. This is bullshit, this is for idiots. There are many more experienced teams in the EuroLeague. It’s a completely different situation compared to VTB United League. We should use this game as a good lesson”.

The coach of Olympiacos, Giannis Sfairopoulos added: “We have to keep our heads down and continue to work. We have to be humble. I believe we can play much better. We have to forget this win and the 4-0 start and focus on the next game of the Greek League”.
