With the score 51 – 51 in the mid of the third quarter of the EuroLeague game between Panathinaikos and Olimpia Milano, Jordan Theodore got ejected after receiving a second technical foul for protesting to the referees.
His absence greatly affected the Milano offense that managed only 21 points in the next 15 minutes, with the Italian team ultimately suffering its ninth loss in 12 games.
“I feel I let my team down. This is one me. I take this loss,” Theodore told Eurohoops. “Especially since I usually do many things for my team and I wasn’t able to help us when they needed me the most tonight.”
“I do feel like that if I was out there, the result would’ve been different,” he added. “When it happened the game was tight. We were definitely in the mix.” Before his ejection, Theodore had 9 points and 2 assists in 17 minutes.
This was the fourth defeat in a row for”Red Shoes” and the American guard believes that these results don’t do justice to his and his teammates’ quality and efforts.
“It’s frustrating. We’re losing to teams but at the same time, we feel that we are one of the best teams in EuroLeague. We’re just one step away from getting that hope we need continues. It’s all on us (the players). The coach has been helping us work hard, stay together as a team. We’ll definitely change this around.”
Then again, Milano was facing Panathinaikos, the only undefeated team at home in this season’s campaign.
“Everybody is strong at home. Look at what Fenerbahce has been able to do through the years. Or Panathinaikos here. It was great for me to play here for the first time. That was exciting.”
Even though he was booed, Theodore enjoyed the atmosphere quite much. “I love the sounds of the crowds. Especially of the road.”
