Former All-EuroLeague selection Josh Childress has agreed to a deal with Denver Nuggets, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.
The 34-year-old American forward thus returns to the league for the first time since December 2013 when he briefly played for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Back in 2008 and after four seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, Childress made the jump to Europe, signing a three-year, $20 million deal with Olympiacos in Greece. This deal remains until now the biggest contract ever by a European club.
Childress helped the club return to the EuroLeague Final Four in 2009, make it to the competition’s final in 2010 and win the Greek Cup the same year. He was named in the All-EuroLeague Second Team of 2009-2010 after averaging 15.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Olympiacos and Childress parted ways after the completion of 2009/2010.
