Maccabi got the 81-73 win over Panathinaikos, the hosts of “Pavlos Giannakopoulos” tournament in the Glyfada Arena, one day before the big games in the iconic Panathenaic Stadium, the home of the first modern Olympics.

Roman Sorkin with 11 points and six rebounds was the top scorer of the wining side and the only player in double digits on a team effort.

The bad news for Maccabi, in the game held behind closed doors, is that Wenyen Gabriel got injured. He scored seven points in 15 minutes of action.

Panathinaikos didn’t have Lorenzo Brown and Mathias Lessort available for the games due to minor injuries and 10 players were used from the hosts with Cedi Osman and Kendrick Nunn scoring 13 points each, while Dinos Mitoglou added 12 and Kostas Antwtokounmpo had 11.

In th first game of the tournament, Anadolu Efes beat Partizan by one point (81-80), also in the Glyfada Arena, while the main course of the tournament comes tomorrow with the games in the 36.000 open-air stadium between Maccabi and Efes, while Panathinaikos will play against Partizan.
