Corey Walden needed some time to fully get back to form after recovering from the coronavirus but it seems he’s finally there as he demonstrated in Crvena Zvezda’s 71-60 road win over Split in the ABA League.
Walden banked in 24 points on 5-8 from the three-point range while also dishing four assists. Ognjen Dobric followed him with 12 points as the only other double-digit scorer for the winning team. He also had eight rebounds while Dejan Davidovac logged seven points and nine boards.
On the other side, Marko Lukovic and Mateo Kedzo had 12 points each while Roko Leni Ukic helped with 11.
Zvezda improved to 14-2 and is on pace to take over the top of the standings while making up for the lack of games so far in the schedule. Mornar and Igokea, which beat FMP over the weekend, are currently sharing the first spot with 15-4 records.
Cedevita Olimpija also continued on the road of success with a comfortable win over Borac, paced by Kendrick Perry’s 21 points and eight assists.
Meanwhile, Partizan’s troubles continue as the team suffered another close loss, this time against Cibona after overtime and that was the last game of coach Saso Filipovski on the bench as he agreed with the club to part ways. Aleksandar Matovic, who’s been a part of the Partizan organization for years, will take over for the rest of the season.
