Partizan has been having a tough season and is currently on a six-game losing streak with the archrival Crvena Zvezda handing them two of those. The first one happened in Korac Cup and now they got them once again in ABA League with 73-64.
The black-and-white team put on a solid fight but the individual quality and confidence of Crvena Zvezda‘s squad, going into this game after the EuroLeague win over Khimki, was too much for them to handle.
One category, in particular, showed that and it was the three-point shot. While neither were exactly on fire from deep, Zvezda made six long-range attempts more and that made the final score the way it is.
Jordan Loyd and Corey Walden banked in two each on their way to 12 and ten points but it was Duop Reath with 15 and Dejan Davidovac with 14 points that led the scoring effort of the winning side as they found space in the pain rather easily.
For Partizan, Rashawn Thomas scored game-high 17 points followed by Nikola Jankovic with 12 and Ognjen Jaramaz with ten points. Thomas also grabbed 14 rebounds for a double-double.
Zvezda improved to a 15-2 record and stayed on pace to take the top of the standings while making up for the lack of games. Partizan has already lost its chance to reach the top four and currently holds a 7-13 record.
Igokea (16-4), Cedevita Olimpija (15-4), Mornar Bar (15-4) and Buducnost (15-3) hold the first four spots at the moment.
