Despite Nikola Kalinic being a late scratch, Crvena Zvezda mts held on in a challenging battle to defeat Split, 66-62, Sunday.
Kalinic, 30, tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced before the AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season fixture. After entering quarantine, he is expected to miss more games, including Thursday’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 19 home fixture opposite Fenerbahce Beko. In addition, Dejan Davidovac remained sidelined for the team guided by Dejan Radonjic.
Montenegrin Nikola Ivanovic registered a team-high 11 points but was limited to 2/8 field goals versus Split. Aaron White recorded ten points and grabbed seven rebounds as his side improved its league-leading tally to 13-1. Shannon Shorter went for 24 points behind 5/7 three-pointers but was not enough for the Croatian side.
Antabia Waller packing a game-high 16 points powered Igokea m:tel to the away win, 88-61, over Borac. The Bosnian team jumped to 8-6 before hosting Filou Oostende in Game 1 of the Basketball Champions League Play-In series in a couple of days, Tuesday.
Cedevita Olimpija got to 9-5 thanks to the away win, 90-83, against struggling Krka in the all-Slovenian meeting of Round 14. Zach Auguste posted a 22-point, 11-rebound double-double. Experienced point guard Jacob Pullen shared the game-high 22 points.
Partizan NIS at 10-2 is scheduled to host Zadar, tomorrow, Monday (18:00 CET). Buducnost VOLI and FMP Meridian remained tied at 10-3 after their Round 14 direct clash was suspended.
