Luca Vildoza posted team-highs 19 points (including two key 3-pointers down the stretch) and nine assists as Crvena Zvezda beat Igokea 76 – 70 on the road to improve its ABA League record to 4-0.
With the score tied at 61, Vildoza made a triple and then hit another one that put Zvezda up 64 – 70. Ben Bentil and Stefan Markovic also scored in a decisive 0 – 8 run, thanks to which Red Star took a 64 – 72 lead with 2:28 to play.
Igokea tried to cut the deficit but Nemanja Nedovic kept the ABA reigning champions safe with 4-4 free throws in the last 30 seconds. Kendrick Ray’s 24 points (on 6-6 2-pointers) plus five rebounds weren’t enough for the hosts that dropped to 3-2.
Bentil added 17 points plus seven rebounds for Zvezda while Filip Petrusev scored 11.
Zvezda and Partizan Belgrade remain the only unbeaten teams after five rebounds into the 2022-23 regular season. Zeljko Obradovic’s side prevailed over Mega Basket Sunday (30/10).
