Crvena Zvezda mts can’t stop winning. They recorded the ninth victory in a row with new head coach Dusko Ivanovic as they beat Mornar-Barsko zlato in Round 10 of the ABA League 93:77.
Ivanovic decided to mix things up, leaving Filip Petrusev, Ognjen Kuzmic, and John Holland on the sidelines, giving a chance to Miroslav Raduljica and talented duo Dalibor Ilic and Nikola Topic.
That didn’t stop his team from winning, as Ben Bentil led the team with 26 points, his best at red and white. Dalibor Ilić followed with 11, while Ognjen Dobrić added 10.
Mornar was led by Daron Russel with 35 points, while Petar Vujačić added 10.
After the high-scoring first quarter, the hosts had a three-point lead, as Bentil scored 13 points. In the second period, Crvena Zvezda started slowly building their advantage and, with a 10-1 run, grabbed a 49-33 lead.
But the ABA league record holder for most points in a match with 47, Daron Russell, refused to surrender and scored 11 points in the first half of the third quarter, helping Mornar cut the deficit to just seven points.
Crvena Zvezda didn’t panic, kept their composure, and finished the job with eight straight points from Bentil in the dying minutes and grabbed eight win in the Adriatic League (8-1).
