Yogi Ferrell has proven, throughout the month of December, his dominance on the AdmiralBet ABA League courts wherever he has appeared and besides the fact that he finished the month near the very top of the statistical category of valuation, he deserved himself the award with his contribution to the team’s success – Cedevita Olimpija has won all four games during the month of December and were one of the two undefeated teams that month.
The point guard in the ranks of the Ljubljana squad averaged 14.3 points, 3 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 0.8 steals, and a valuation of 23 during the games of Cedevita Olimpija.
“It’s nice to win this sort of prize, which is at the same time an indicator of the fact, that the whole team believes in our goals. We know that we went off to a slow start to the season, so I was so much more motivated to help my team win in all competitions lately. In the beginning, we might have been a bit nervous. We have plenty of newcomers and the chemistry wasn’t right immediately. I believe that now this has improved and that we play more freely and fast and when we play fast, we are the best”, said Yogi Ferrell.
What is Yogi’s secret in his opinion?
“I play aggressively all the time and try to attack opponents. My teammates keep telling me that nobody can stop me when I play aggressively. That’s the mentality that I want to keep throughout the season.”
When speaking about the head coach Jurica Golemac, Yogi Ferrell only has words of praise: “Our head coach is exceptional. He always tells me to push all the time, especially at the start of each game. It is evident that if we want it, we play the way everyone expects us to. And everything begins with me. He keeps reminding me to keep pushing and that I should slow down a bit when we gain the advantage. I try to do it all the time, on both ends of the court.”
Cedevita Olimpija has made a tremendous finish to the 2021/22 season and Yogi Ferrell believes that they can do it once more this season. “We wish to prove to everyone that we are an excellent team. We have bonded over the recent period and the chemistry has improved in comparison to the start of the season. We still have a bit of bonding to do on defense and I believe that when spring arrives, we can be a magnificent team again.”
