Behind 24 points by Ognjen Dobric, Crvena Zvezda got the 96-79 win over Mega to triumph in the Serbian Cup Final Eight, named after the late, great Radivoj Korac.
After all, Zvezda got the job done in the semifinal against Partizan and Saturday’s game ended up being a triumph.
“Congratulations to all the players and coaching staff. We were focused all three days. We had three good opponents, the players were concentrated in all three games, and we will deservedly carry the trophy for Belgrade. I want to praise the atmosphere, which was phenomenal, and the fans, who once again showed that they are our pillars“, Dusko Ivanovic said after the game.
Dobric scored 18 of his points in the third period, when Zvezda put the game out of reach, after leading by seven at halftime (51-44).
“We knew what awaited us in this game and the final. Mega is an extremely talented team; they play with a lot of running and transition, and we managed to respond to that. Maybe it didn’t look the prettiest, but we took the cup, and that’s the most important thing. This triumph is an incentive for the rest of the season“, the MVP of the final, Dobric stated.
Dusko Ivanovic team was simply too good and got also 20 points by Nemanja Nedovic, 15 by Filip Petrusev and 14 by Luka Mitrovic.
French prospect Malcolm Cazalon with 15 points was the top scorer of Mega.
