James Nunnally scored a team-high 18 points and hit a 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds remaining to hand Partizan Belgrade a 96 – 95 win over Split on the road in an ABA League Round 20 game.
Nunnally received the ball with five seconds remaining, made a short dribble to his left to dispatch his opponent and get the space he needed, to fire the shot that won the match.
Thanks to Nunnally’s bucket, Partizan improved to 18-2 and remains in the first place in the standings. Second-seeded Crvena Zvezda is 17-2 with one game less.
Shannon Shorter led Split with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists. Tyrell Nelson scored 22 and grabbed six rebounds rebounds while Dominik Mavra had 22 points, including the last four of Split, plus 13 assists.
Apart from Nunnally, Dante Exum posted 15 points for Partizan. Alen Smailagic dropped 13 points and got seven rebounds. The Serbian powerhouse is now traveling to Bologna for the EuroLeague game vs. Virtus Tuesday (7/4).
