In the fifth Belgrade derby of the season, the second won by Partizan Belgrade against Crvena Zvezda, Mathias Lessort was unstoppable for the black-and-white team, pushing it to the 92-81 win.

The French center had 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 14 fouls drawn, being the MVP of the game. However, as soon as the encounter ended, he hit Filip Petrusev on purpose, causing tension.

In the post-game press conference, Zeljko Obradovic talked about the incident. “Mathias Lessort is an incredible man, with incredible energy, he gives incredible things to this team, both in basketball, sports, and human terms. What he did after the game was unnecessary and I, as a coach, want to apologize to Petrusev because he pushed him away twice. I don’t know if there were provocations before that. But that’s not a reason to react that way either”, the legendary head coach said.

Talking about the team’s performance, Partizan’s guide had good words for his players. “In the second half, we had a different energy, different desire. The most important moment was Madar’s steal and triple at the end of the third quarter. But such threes were also given by Campazzo. We fouled him unnecessarily and sent him to the free throw line. This number of Lessort’s free throws shows that Zvezda wanted him to make free throws. Surely he is one of our heroes because he had 15/21. I congratulate the team because they played incomparably smarter in the second half”, Zeljko Obradovic added.
