Leading Partizan Mozzart Bet to first place in the AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season, Zeljko Obradovic was named Coach of the Season, as announced Wednesday.
Obradovic, 63, doubled up from the 2021-22 Coach of the Season award. Besides success in the regional league, the current campaign has extended to a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs berth and a 1-0 lead over Real Madrid in the best-of-five series tipping off yesterday, Tuesday.
Per the press release: “Željko Obradović, Partizan Mozzart Bet head coach, that has taken over the Belgrade squad ahead of the 2021/22 season and has been at the helm of the black and white for the second season in a row, has been selected the best coach of the 2022/23 season in the traditional AdmiralBet ABA League voting by the head coaches of AdmiralBet ABA League teams, basketball journalists and the basketball fans, just like the season before!
The experienced tactician has convincingly taken the first place in the voting, winning the total of 72.4% of combined votes. He has been followed by Zadar head coach Danijel Jusup, who has taken the second place, with a total of 13.6% combined votes, while Cibona head coach Josip Sesar and FMP Soccerbet head ccoach Nenad Stefanović have both received 6.2% of the combined votes.
It is worth mentioning, that Obradović has taken the first place by all three categories of voters – the head coaches, journalist and the fans as well.
Željko Obradović has had a remarkable season on the bench of Partizan Mozzart Bet, as he has led the Belgrade squad to the first place in the AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season. Partizan Mozzart Bet have finished the season with a record of 24:2.
In the traditional AdmiralBet ABA League voting for the Ideal Starting Five of the AdmiralBet ABA League season and the individual honours, the final results of the voting combines the votes of the head coaches of AdmiralBet ABA League teams (85% of the total voting results), the votes of fans (5% of the total voting results) and the votes of basketball journalists from the ABA League j.t.d. countries (10% of the total voting results).
