Partizan Belgrade is one win away from winning its first ABA League title in 10 years. With five players scoring in double figures, Zeljko Obradovic’s team took a 87 – 78 win over Crvena Zvezda in Game 2 of the Finals as the series now moves to the latter’s home court.
James Nunnally and Alen Smailagic led a balanced offensive effort by Partizan with 15 points apiece. Mathias Lessort and Kevin Punter contributed 13 points each and Zach LeDay had 12 points plus six rebounds.
Nemanja Nedovic dropped 21 points for Red Star but his team needed some more firepower or perhaps a better defense to counter Partizan, especially in the second half. Zvezda was leading 49 – 50 early in the third period but the hosts made a 12-3 run to establish a lead.
Partizan retained an advantage and Nunnaly hit a big triple to make it 82 – 76 with 1:29 to play. Punter then made a pair of free throws to secure his team’s win.
