A Crvena Zvezda Board of Directors member, two journalists who were following the delegation and a club supporter were attacked and injured in Zadar, Croatia ahead of the ABA League game vs. the local team, the Serbian side said in a statement. Red Star has requested ABA to hold the match vs. Zadar behind closed doors for safety reasons.
Zvezda also mentions that the club has information that the attacks are linked to a taxi driver who was transporting the victims from the Zadar airport.

KK Crvena zvezda Meridianbet informs the public that on Saturday evening, in two separate incidents in Zadar, a member of the Board of Directors of our club was attacked for no apparent reason, together with another friend of the club with whom he was in the company, as well as two members of the press team that was with the KK delegation Red Star Meridianbet arrived from Barcelona!
All of them were beaten up in an attack by numerous masked hooligans, and on that occasion, they suffered injuries!
As a club, we demand an immediate reaction from the competent authorities, first and foremost the Croatian police and security services, as well as the apprehension of the attackers, because it is simply unbelievable that people who arrived in Zadar as part of our club’s delegation, who did not have any signs of our club on them, are being attacked. nor did they provoke anyone in any way!
It is especially symptomatic that we, as a club from Belgrade, already have information that both attacks are connected by the same person (taxi driver) who was transporting the press team and a member of our Board of Directors from the airport!
Due to all of the above, and possibly as a result of the open letter of the Zadar fans, which raised the tension completely unnecessarily, as well as everything that happened during Saturday in Zadar, KK Crvena zvezda Meridianbet officially requested that the match on Sunday be played without the presence of the audience – because has been giving us an overture since Saturday, when for no apparent reason a sort of hunt for people from our club’s delegation began, hinting that the conditions for playing the game will not be regular!
