ABA League standings leader Crvena Zvezda faced some opposition in Mega Mis and their loaned youngster Nikola Topic in particular but prevailed 98 – 88 behind a strong finish.
The 18-year-old Topic produced 21 points, five rebounds and five assists to put Mega up 83 – 80 with four minutes to play. Zvezda responded with a 2 – 14 run to close the game in style and get the victory that puts them at 10-1.
Nemanja Nedovic led Zvezda with 23 points, six assists and six rebounds Milos Teodosic had 21 points, five rebounds and five assists while Joel Bolomboy contributed 12 points plus five boards.
In Stark Arena, Partizan Belgrade defeated SC Derby 99 – 76 with four players scoring in double figures to move to 8 – 3. Zach LeDay and Balsa Koprivica led this balanced effort by the reigning champs with 19 and 18 points respectively.
Mateo Dreznjak was SC Derby’s highest scorer with 14 points.
