For the eighth straight time, Crvena Zvezda is in the Serbian Cup finals.
Ioannis Sfairopoulos’ side defeated Cacak 94 in the semis 52-87 and moved to the final battle in Nis, where they will face Partizan or Vojvodina in an attempt to win the Cup for the fourth straight time.
The most effective player in the winning team was ultimately Luka Mitrović with 15 points. He also concluded the match as the most valuable player for the red and whites with an index of 25. He was followed by Dalibor Ilić, who had another solid performance: 13 points and seven rebounds, along with several impressive dunks. Also scoring in double digits were Nemanja Nedović with 11 points and Dejan Davidovac with 10 points.
Milos Teodosic and Branko Lazic played their first minutes since their injuries, while the talented Andrej Kostic made his debut in the Crvena Zvezda jersey and scored seven points.
In the losing team, the only player in double digits was Stefan Lakić with 11 points.
Partizan had to work hard but joined Crvena Zvezda in the final
Partizan and Crvena Zvezda fought off their challengers and will meet in the final of the Serbian Cup after Zeljko Obradovic‘s side defeated Vojvodina in the second semifinal 67-80 to join Ioannis Sfairopoulos’ team in the ultimate battle for the trophy.
James Nunnally and Frank Kaminsky led the winning side with 15 points each, while Zach LeDay added 13.
Vojvodina gave a good fight to Partizan, with former NBA and Bayern Munich player Jared Cunningham leading the way with 17 points. Montenegrin national team player Zoran Nikolic and Luka Asceric added 10 points each.
