Mega MIS defeated ABA League standings leader Crvena Zvezda 88 – 80 on the road to deliver one of the biggest upsets of the season in the championship while securing a spot in the playoffs.
Stefan Miljenovic led Mega with 18 points while Uros Plavcic posted 16 points and 12 rebounds. Andrija Jelavic also scored 16 to go with his seven rebounds as his team improved to 14-10.
Adam Hanga dropped 22 points and Nemanja Nedovic added 16 points (on 4-18 shots) for Zvezda that led 67 – 56 in the third period. Mega erased that margin and then made a decisive 0 – 9 run down the stretch to go up 80 – 89 with 25 seconds to play.
Zvezda, that would’ve clinched the top spot with a win, remains first in the standings, now at 20 – 4.
