Crvena Zvezda returned to the ABA League throne, sweeping arch-rivals Partizan 3-0 in the Finals.
Nemanja Nedovic returned to Belgrade almost two years ago but couldn’t bring the championship to his club in his first season. Now, he’s at the top and couldn’t hide his emotions after the end of Game 3 at the Belgrade Arena.
“Beautiful feeling… I imagined today how it would be if we had won, but this is a much better feeling. A lot of emotions… I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. I was at the club when it was very difficult to win the first title in the ABA league with Zvezda… I was emotional, but now I will celebrate with the team,” Nedović said after the game.
Crvena Zvezda defended the home court in the first two games of the final series and clinched the title in front of 20,000 Partizan fans.
“I didn’t expect it, but I believed. When we saw the start of the game, I told my teammates in the locker room that they didn’t believe they could win and that we had to play smart and read the game. This was a tactical game like chess, not who has a better shot or better play.”
He has a contract for another season with the club where he started his professional career, and he intends to fulfill it, hoping for even better results.
“I see myself here. I have a contract for another year, and I hope we will have even better results next year,” concluded Nedovic.
