After Predrag Danilovic stepped down a few months before the end of his term, the Basketball Federation of Serbia has been searching for a new president.

According to Meridian Sport, Nebojša Čović’s candidacy for the presidency of the Basketball Federation of Serbia has been supported by 30 delegates of the Assembly of the country’s top basketball organization.

Thus, Čović’s election at the session of the Basketball Federation of Serbia’s Assembly, which is scheduled to take place on October 1st, should be a mere formality, as the body consists of a total of 33 delegates.

The current president of Crvena zvezda previously held the most senior position in the then Basketball Federation of Yugoslavia in the mid-1990s.

According to the Statute, he is required to submit his biography, work program, and the names of the candidates for the four vice presidents (men’s national teams, women’s national teams, competitions, and finances) five days before the Assembly session (by September 26th).
