The ABA released an announcement informing that the club’s assembly chose participation of the teams from league, in the competitions organized by Euroleague.
With a goal of constant improvement of the ABA League, rising of its quality and adaptation to the needs and the interests of the clubs, the ABA League Assembly, held on 20 March 2016 in Zagreb, has chosen Euroleague Basketball to be the priority European competition, with the absolute majority of its votes (11-1).
In accordance with this, the ABA League Assembly has authorized ABA League Director Krešimir Novosel and Sports Director Žarko Čabarkapa, to continue and finalize the negotiations regarding the signing of the three-year agreement, which guarantees spots in the Euroleague and Eurocup for the seasons 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19 for the best placed teams, with Euroleague Basketball.
At the same time, the Assembly has unanimously concluded that ABA League represents the only path for improvement, promotion and development of basketball sport in the entire region and that as such it represents an absolute priority.
The Assembly of clubs noted also that ABA League gave huge contribution to the affirmation and improvement of the quality of clubs from the entire region and basketball in general. The only way for the participation of the clubs from the region in the most important European competitions leads through ABA League and this remains a priority in the forthcoming period as well.
The ABA League Assembly also held a meeting with the national basketball federations of Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia. In the highly constructive and open dialogue, the conclusion was made that the clubs and the national basketball federations should cooperate much closer with a goal of the development of all basketball subjects in the entire region. The present representatives of national basketball federations expressed their full support for the ABA League.
