Buducnost VOLI beat Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade in the game which was decided in the final minute, winning the ABA League final series and securing a spot in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague next season.
After coach Dusan Alimpijevic who gave his impression and was unhappy with the treatment in the finals, the coach of the winning side, Aleksandar Dzikic, took his turn to answer the journalists at the press conference after the game. He started off by congratulating the opponent and noting that it was extremely hard but they managed to win in the end: “What can I say… First, congratulations to Zvezda. They are a very good team. It is very hard for us to play against them. Every game was close, really close… Now we did win the ABA League title. It will stay recorded in the club’s history. Until this game, I was saying that it’s the only thing we are interested in.”
After being asked about the media chaos before the last game, and the possibility of it not being played at all, the coach explained he had no doubt if it will be played and shared his experience with the high-stakes games: “I am 47 years old. When the games are high-stakes, the boundaries of the so-called allowed means change. And it is normal. Okay, you try to win it all. Who will remember that? Don’t ask me about these things.”
He also summarized the essence of his team’s tactics this season: “Generally I like that we don’t get out of the ‘frame’, the team is a bit more organized around outer players, the qualities of Gordic (Nemanja), Ivanovic (Nikola) and Gibson (Kyle), it’s not a secret.”
On the question if he will lead the team in EuroLeague next season, the coach was short: “I don’t know”
