After a fairly balanced first half, Crvena Zvezda – which shot 12-22 from deep – completely took over and recorded a 91-72 home win over Buducnost in Game 1 of ABA League Finals.
Billy Baron nailed all four of his three-pointers for the winning side on his way to game-high 19 points and added five assists while Ognjen Dobric followed with 12 points. For Buducnost, Norris Cole was the only double-digit scorer with 18 points.
Buducnost had an upper hand early but Baron’s eight points and five assists along with Micahel Ojo’s eight points and paint presence pushed Zvezda to a 45-42 lead at halftime.
The ‘Red and White’ continued where they left off and went ahead 65-52 at the end of the third quarter as Buducnost couldn’t find an answer for their ‘well-oiled’ offense. The Montenegrin squad tried to hold on but the hosts nailed four shots from deep to hit the 25-point mark and secured the game.
