ABA League announced the penalty on Buducnost VOLI for the insufficient organization of the 2019 ABA League Finals Game 3. The Montenegrin side is forced to play Game 4 with part of the stands close after the decision made by the ABA League Disciplinary Judge Saša Pavličić – Bekić, based on the ABA League Disciplinary Code.
Buducnost will be obliged to close all the courtside seats, as well as all the seats stretching from the bottom of the each stand to the 3rd row.
The penalty comes after a heated atmosphere in the third game which went over the line. Perhaps the biggest reason for the penalty is inappropriate behavior of some courtside viewers which seemed to freely move near the court before the start of the game and used that opportunity to harass the players. The crowd, besides spitting, also threw various objects (balls, lighters, screws…) – some of which were solid and heavy – and caused minor injuries to Crvena Zvezda‘s personnel. There were also scuffles right behind the guest team’s bench which forced the security to react.
Game 3 was played on Wednesday (17/4) and the home team won to cut their opponents’ lead in the best-of-five series to 2-1. Game 4 is scheduled to take place on Friday (19/4) at 19:00 CET.
