Coach Jasmin Repesa addressed the public for the first time since the ABA League Finals between Crvena Zvezda mts and Buducnost Voli after which he resigned as the Montenegrin team head coach.
Repesa released a statement on Buducnost’s official website in which he thanks everybody in the club before noting that he’s sorry for the made mistakes, both on and off the court, and that the Finals ended in a traumatic way for him and his side.
Here is the complete statement by coach Jasmin Repesa:
“First of all, I want to thank everyone for warm reception and support. Thank you to the club, fans, the board and president of the club for the past four months, which I will keep in good memory. From heart, I thank the players and the staff for cooperation in this, from the beginning a difficult, season which did not end as we wished and expected. Still, it shouldn’t be forgotten that one season does not make the club. Sport isn’t a matter of life and death. Buducnost Voli has all the most important preconditions – stability, financial structure, fans, support and enthusiasm, from year to year grows and progresses, it’s on an ascending path.
We all made mistakes, I don’t deny that but those who work make mistakes. I’m sorry everything ended like this. Not in sport but the other segment which isn’t in line with my understanding of sport and life. I pointed to that with good intentions from the first Finals game. As a man, I didn’t justify what was happening in the third Finals game. The Finals ended in a way which left a trauma, not only to me but everybody else in the club as well.
Once again, I warmly thank everyone, I wish Buducnost Voli a lot of luck in the future with a hope that regional basketball survives, be different from this Finals series.”
