Gal Mekel inked a contract for the remainder of the 2019-20 season with Unicaja Malaga, the Spanish outlet announced on Thursday. He is now set for his second ACB stint following his 2017-18 tenure as a member of the Herbalife Gran Canaria squad.
Since the beginning of his current campaign, the Wichita State alumni displayed his talents with Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia. Averaged 12.1 points, 5.6 dimes and 2.9 rebounds per LBA Serie A appearance.
Earlier in his career competed in 35 NBA games between the Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Pelicans. His resume includes 35 EuroLeague contests as well.
He meets his new side tied for eighth place in the ACB with an 11-11 W-L tally. The team coached by Luis Casimiro made its way to the 7DAYS EuroCup quarterfinals as well, but Mekel will not be eligible for the European club competition as the deadline for new additions has long passed.
