Baskonia President Josean Querejeta addressed the current situation of the club in the midst of the coronavirus crisis and the reports of ACB including 20 teams next season. As for the economic impact, the Baskonia boss believes that income will decrease by 30% due to the absence of spectators attending the games.

“Until 2021, we must get used to the idea that we will have to play without an audience in the stands,” he explained in an interview with El Correo“The most important thing is health, and then we’ll talk about sports. The income of the next season will fall around 30% of what was budgeted because the numbers of attendees, sponsorships and television rights in sports, in general, will decrease.”

Changes are expected for the next season, while reports mention that ACB plans to include 20 clubs for the 2020-21 season, though Querejeta commented there are no such discussions: “There are neither teams for a competition of 20, nor dates. The logical thing is that if there are no relegations there will be no promotions and I think that everyone will have to adapt. ”

Nothing seems certain yet for the upcoming season, but there could be news soon. One of them would be the renewal of head coach Dusko Ivanovic:  “I would love for him to continue and we will discuss it with him. I am sure he will be open to continuing”, Querejeta added.
