Valencia forward/center Louis Labeyrie believes that the potential resumption of the season in Spain will happen just because of the TV rights revenues.
“Honestly, it’s not for the beauty of the sport. We’re going to play because the television pays the rights, we all agree on that. It’s the pure and simple truth,” Labeyrie said to L’Equipe.
The ACB is planning to hold a 12-team tournament featuring the top clubs in the standings at the moment of the Spanish League’s suspension on March 12. Valencia, the 2016 champion, is among those teams.
Labeyrie also commented on the salary reductions that were imposed due to the hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic. “It’s the equivalent of a few cases of wine. i think that the club did it to be like the others because they also did it with other clubs.”
