The players of Barcelona wrote black t-shirts with the “Black Lives Matter” slogan during their warmup before the Spanish ACB League 12-team tournament opener against Joventut Badalona.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the initiative was an idea of Brandon Davies and Cory Higgins in support of the movement against social injustice and racism following the murder of George Floyd, a black man, by a cop in Minneapolis. The other Barcelona players unanimously supported what their teammates proposed.
Davies also had the slogan on the shoes he wore in the match.
Barcelona got the 96-92 win over Joventut to start the tournament on the right foot.
