Barcelona failed to win the 2020 Spanish ACB Supercup title after falling to archrival Real Madrid in the final for the second year in a row. A far from a pretty way to officially start the season for the Blaugrana.

“We are touched by it because no one likes to lose,” Barca wing Alex Abrines said to Catalan radio RAC 1, per Marc Mundet. “It’s very early, but that’s no excuse. We are Barca and we have to fight for all the titles.”

Abrines had scored 19 points in the semifinal win over Baskonia. It was one of his top performances with the jersey of the team since his return in 2019. “I’m playing at a very good level. Saras has given me confidence from day one. I have to work to prove I’m an option.”

Before the Supercup, Jasikevicius left the room open for a potential transfer while also saying that there’s no urgency. Barcelona has been minus a center on the roster after former captain Ante Tomic parted ways with the team.

“Signing a five? We are who we are and, for example, Brandon [Davies] has performed very well against [Edy] Tavares, a much bigger player than him. If it goes well, we may not need it,” Abrines commented.
