Liga Endesa Day 5 Recap

Four games were on schedule Saturday for Spanish League’s Day 5 and all four went down to the wire, ending within a five-point margin. A couple of exciting games followed Sunday.

Gipuzkoa – Casademont Zaragoza 70-67

Jaime Echenique scored 21 points for Gipuzkoa followed by Johnny Dee with 11 and Pere Tomas with ten points.

On the other side, Jason Thompson scored 14 in addition to DJ Seeley’s 13 points.

Real Madrid – Obradoiro 84 – 77 

In a postponed game for this round, Real Madrid edged a tough Obradoiro at home. The visiting squad led 69 – 70 with four minutes but the hosts then made a 11 – 2 run to enter the final minute with a decisive eight-point lead.

Nicolas Laprovittola dropped 19 points while Edy Tavares had 19 points, nine rebounds and four blocks for Real. Kassius Robertson scored a game-high 26 points for Obradoiro and Laurynas Beliauskas added 15 points.

BAXI Manresa – MoraBanc Andorra 64-69

Clevin Hannah led the way for the winning side with 23 points while Jeremy Senglin added 13 and Sergi Garcia 11 points.

For Manresa, Seth Hinrichs scored 13 and Juan Pablo Vaulet ten points.

UCAM Murcia – Coosur Real Betis 74-72

Interestingly, Conner Frankamp was the only double-digit scorer for the victors with 19 points while Jordan Davis added nine points.

For Betis, James Feldeine was on fire with 27 points followed by Nick Kay with 15.

Iberostar Tenerife – Urbas Fuenlabrada 91-87

The experienced veteran duo of Marcelinho Huertas and Giorgi Shermadini stepped up once again for Tenerife with 19 and 17 points respectively while the former also dished nine assists.

Sasu Salin helped with 14 points. On the other side, Melo Trimble scored 24 and Siim-Sander Vene 17 points.

Joventut Badalona – RETAbet Bilbao 88-81

Albert Ventura and Pau Ribas led Badalona to victory scoring 15 and 14 points each, while their efforts were reinforced by Ante Tomic who had 13 points.

Bilbao’s Jaroslaw Zyskowski had a game-high of 19 points, as Ondrej Balvin and Jonathan Rousselle scored 11 points each.

Hereda San Pablo Burgos – TD Systems Baskonia 91-89

Second straight win following the Basketball Champions League triumph in Athens and seventh in a row in all competitions for Burgos. Vitor Benite scored 10 of his 14 points in the last quarter but fell a bucket shy from Dejan Kravic’s team-high 16 points.

The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague outlet saw Rokas Giedraitis post 19 points, Luca Vildoza 18, and Alec Peters 16 for a second consecutive ACB loss.

Valencia – Unicaja Malaga 66-71

Another tight affair saw Tim Abromaitis sink four threes and score 20 points. Dario Brizuela added 16 points in the road victory.

Bojan Dubljevic with 15 points and Nikola Kalinic with 14 claimed top-scorers status for the hosts.

Movistar Estudiantes – Herbalife Gran Canaria 94-68

Backed by five double-digit scoring performances, the Madrid-based club blew out its opponents in the second half. Alessandro Gentile and John Roberson registered 15 points apiece, and Victor Arteaga submitted a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double.

Matt Costello finished with 16 points for the losing side.
