Gameday 8 of the Spanish League started off in a bit of an unusual schedule early in the week as Real Madrid improved to a 7-0 record at the top of the standings. Tenerife follows with 6-0 and Barca with 5-2.
Real Betis – Real Madrid 65-84
Sergio Lull and Jaycee Carroll led the way with 14 points each while Walter Tavares added 13 along wth 11 rebounds. Facundo Campazzo flirted with a double-double, scoring nine points and dishing nine assists.
On the other side, Youssou Ndoy and James Feldeine scored 11 each followed by Nick Kay with ten points.
Monbus Obradoiro – Valencia Basket 77-78
In a very close game, Valencia emerged victorious thanks to Bojan Dubljevic’s game-winning two points with eight seconds remaining.
The Montenegrin center finished with ten points while Jaime Pradilla had 16 and Vanja Marinkovic 14 points.
For Obradoiro, Jake Cohen scored 17 in addition to Laurynas Birutis’ 14 and Kassius Robertson’s 11 points.
UCAM Murcia CB – Barcelona 77-73
Although Barca managed to bounce back from an early 21-point deficit (27-6), Murcia managed to hold them off thanks to Jordan Davis who banked 27 points on 11-13 shooting including the four last points of the game to seal the deal.
Conner Frankamp added ten points while for Barca, Nikola Mirotic had 19 points followed by Cory Higgins with 14 and Brandon Davies with ten points.
TD Systems Baskonia – Baxi Manresa 87-68
Achille Polonara led the way with 17 points and 13 rebounds to his name. Zoran Dragic followed with 14 points, Luca Vildoza and Alec Peters posted 13 apiece, and Tonye Jekiri added 12.
On to the away team, Scott Eatherton punched in a team-high 15 points.
Movistar Estudiantes – Acunsa GBC 80-61
Alessandro Gentile got his team right back on the win column following Sunday’s loss to Real Madrid. He poured 30 points, also produced seven rebounds, and six assists supplementing his best outing of the season.
Colombian Jaime Echenique punched in a team-high 20 points for the losing side.
Fuenlabrada – Joventut Badalona 93-84
Christian Eyenga and Melo Trimble stepped up big time in this important victory for Fuenlabrada with 20 and 18 points each, while Obi Emegano tapped 16 points.
Nenad Dimitrijevic had 15 points for Badalona, Xavi Lopez-Arostegui added 14 and Ante Tomic, Vladimir Brodziansky followed with 13 points each.
Zaragoza – Unicaja Malaga 63-92
Malaga swept Zaragoza in the second half as Adam Waczynski had a team-high of 19 points. Faure Alonso and Tim Abromaitis followed his lead with 16 and 12 points respectively.
Jason Thompson was the only Zaragoza player in double figures, adding 14 points.
Iberostar Tenerife – Herbalife Gran Canaria 99-80
Tyler Cavanaugh paced the efforts of the hosts with 19 points, Sasu Salin registered 17 points, Marcelinho Huertas had 15 points and Giorgi Shermadini tapped 14 points, 7 boards and four assists.
Tomas Dimsa matched Cavanaugh’s game-high with 19 points, Andrew Albicy added 15 points and 7 assists and Jacob Wiley had 11 points.
RETAbet Bilbao – MoraBanc Andorra 76-85
In a game pushed back to December 3, Jeremy Senglin dominated with 30 points and handed his side the “W”. On the other end, Jaylon Brown scored a team-high 14 points.
