Coosur Real Betis inked Joan Plaza to a contract for the remainder of the 2020-21 season including an option for the 2021-22 season, the Spanish club announced Monday.
Plaza, 56, returns to the ACB following his two-year stint with Zenit Saint-Petersburg concluded last February and to the team based in Seville after his run between 2009 and 2012. He went on to Zalgiris Kaunas in 2012-13.
His accolades include EuroCup championships in 2007 and 2017 with Real Madrid and Unicaja Malaga, respectively. He is one of the three head coaches with multiple titles alongside Evgeniy Pashutin and Rimas Kurtinaitis.
Real Betis brought back the Catalan coach after a poor 2-9 start in the Spanish league.
