A very impressive start to the 2022-23 season for Lenovo Tenerife. The latest winning display rocked Valencia, 94-78, Saturday night.

Recording a new personal season-high, Jaime Fernandez dropped 22 points in the Liga Endesa Regular Season Round 8 contest. Giorgi Shermadini put in 19 points and eight rebounds as the team guided by Txus Vidorreta upped its ACB W-L tally to 7-1. Defending the Basketball Champions League title, Tenerife carries a 2-1 record at the halfway mark of the Regular Season Group H.

Visiting San Cristobal de La Laguna, the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague outfit trailed in double-digits most of the way. Captain Bojan Dubljevic returned to action after missing Thursday’s EuroLeague Regular Season Round 7 game at Virtus Segafredo Bologna. But Jasiel Rivero, who was cleared to play in Italy, reverted to the sidelines alongside Millan Jimenez (left ankle) and Martin Hermannsson (left knee).

Aiming to bounce back, the Oranges will be presented with a couple of home challenges shaping the next two-game week of the top-tier continental competition of Europe. Real Madrid Tuesday and Zalgiris Friday will visit La Fonteta. Alex Mumbru’s side is 4-4 before the Round 9 and Round 10 matchups.

In more Saturday ACB action, Gran Canaria survived Marc Gasol’s Girona with a 78-69 overtime win and improved to 6-2. Jumping to 5-3, Unicaja overcame Dragan Bender’s 23 points for the away win, 87-86, versus Monbus Obradoiro.

Coming in at 6-1, FC Barcelona will visit Catalonia rival Joventut Badalona Sunday. Also, Real Madrid gunning for a sixth win in eight games will host UCAM Murcia. Fellow EuroLeague participant Cazoo Baskonia will be on the road against Baxi Manresa.
