A big game for Frankie Ferrari led BAXI Manresa to a 93-80 win against Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in Round 8 of the Spanish ACB League.
The experienced guard scored 23 points in his third debut for Manresa, paving the way to a second victory of the season.
Adam Waczynski followed the US player with 15 points, while Tyson Perez added 14, and Jerrick Harding had 13 points for the winning side.
Baskonia played another game without injured Steven Enoch and Daulton Hommes. Marcus Howard had a bad night with only seven points, while Maik Kotsar and Darius Thompson led the team from Vitoria with 13 points each.
Manresa took the lead in the final minutes of the first quarter and managed to keep it until the end. Of course, it wasn’t that easy, Baskonia tied the result couple of times but didn’t have the strength to turn the score around.
Pedro Martinez’s team had a crucial push late in the last quarter. After Baskonia tied the game to 72-72, the hosts had an 11-0 run, and it was all over.
Next week Manresa will host Benfica in the Basketball Champions League, while Baskonia, after their third defeat in the Endesa League (5-3), will have a double week in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Hosting Zalgiris on Wednesday in Fernando Buesa Arena, and playing away against Barcelona in Palau Blaugrana (Friday).
