Marc Gasol spoke about the beginning of the season by Basquet Girona in the ACB League. The Catalan team is currently third-to-last with a 2-8 record, ahead of Real Betis and BAXI Manresa.
The Spanish veteran called for calm despite the negative balance of the team. “We have had several matches with the victory to play and that generates frustration for being close to the prize. Collectively, I have seen that when we are well and play consistently on both sides we are a difficult team to defend. But it shows too much when we have a blackout and we still can’t minimize that. We need to understand what is needed at every moment and that is a long and sometimes frustrating process”, he said.
Then, Marc Gasol went on being categorical: “We are convinced that if we improve the situation will be what we all want. And if we still do not arrive, then we can be reassured of having done everything that was in our hands”, he said before talking about his impact.
“In the end, my numbers are not important. I want to be on the track and help my teammates and I want everyone to feel important so that they grow as players. It’s no use having the best numbers if you lose games”, he added.
In 10 appearances, the former Memphis Grizzlies player has averaged 14.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He’s shooting 57.7% from two, 38.5% behind the arc, and 86.5% at the charity stripe.
