Finally in a situation to resurface at the club level, experienced point guard Stefan Jovic was expected to be picked up by Casademont Zaragoza.

Jovic, 32, was nearing a deal with the Zaragoza, according to Eurohoops sources. The team confirmed his addition later Sunday. The newcomer inked a contract for the remainder of the 2022-23 season, as announced.

Besides making his way to a couple of international games with Serbia in FIBA’s November window, he has been inactive through the 2022-23 season seeking a new team as a free agent. Due to various injuries, the 2021-22 stint at Panathinaikos was limited to nine games played between the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and Greece’s Basket League.

In recent years, even before the Greens, injuries have indeed slowed down the co-record holder of the record for the most assists in a single EuroLeague game, 19. The veteran of 127 appearances in the EuroLeague will focus on Spain’s Liga Endesa, his first spell in the most competitive domestic league in Europe. Previous experience abroad stretches from Greece to Germany as a member of FC Bayern Munich and Russia playing for Khimki Moscow Region. Back in 2014, at 24 years of age, he moved from Radnicki to Belgrade giant Crvena Zvezda in the first major move of his career, coinciding with his emergence at the international level with Serbia.

Sitting at 3-8, Zaragoza is determined to improve the depth of the squad gunning for a safer position in the ACB standings. Justinian Jessup, Santiago Yusta, Christian Mekowulu, Chris Wright, and Howard Sant-Roos are among the leading players for the team coached by Porfirio Fisac.
