Cazademont Zaragoza hasn’t celebrated many victories this season in the Spanish ACB League but at least can pride on beating both Real Madrid and Barcelona at home.

Howard Sant-Roos was everywhere on the floor with 21 points, seven assists, five rebounds and four steals as Zaragoza beat Barcelona 85 – 83 to grab its seventh win over 21 games in ACB.

Zaragoza was actually ahead by 22 (!) at halftime after Sant-Roos scored 14 of his points in the first two periods to push the hosts towards going up 46 – 24. Nicolas Laprovittola led a big Barcelona comeback with 22 points in the second half and hit the triple to put his team close 80 – 76 with 20 seconds remaining.

Tryggvi Hlinason dunked the ball to put Zaragoza up by six and Sant-Roos hit two free throws for the 84 – 77. Barcelona remained persistent but didn’t manage to get at a shooting distance, except at the buzzer with a 3-pointer by Nikola Kalinic.

Laprovittola finished with 28 points for a Barcelona team that was without Nikola Mirotic (rest ahead of the EuroLeague double-game week). Kalinic had 15 points and six rebounds for the Blaugrana that dropped to 17-4.

NBA prospect Aday Mara contributed 13 points for Zaragoza.
