Playing without Edy Tavares, who officially is considered day-to-day after his ankle injury against ASVEL, Real Madrid got the 84-78 win on the road over Obradoiro and the top spot in the Liga Endesa standings.
The Whites are the only team with 18 wins (18-3), while Barcelona dropped to 17-4 after losing to Zaragoza.
Dzanan Musa with 19 points was the top scorer of the winning side, however Gabriel Deck was once again more than crucial with 15 points and four rebounds, while Nigel Williams-Goss added also 11 points, including a crucial three in the end.
After trailing by 19 in the first half, Obradoiro came back with Marek Blazevic being the top scorer with 18 points. Real never lost the lead, but Obradoiro made it a three-point game (71-68) with four minutes left.
The answer was a three by Sergio Rodriguez, a steal by Musa, a bucket by Vincent Poirier and a three by Williams-Goss for an 8-2 run to make the score 79-70. Obradoiro once again made a four-point game (80-76) but couldn’t do much more.
Valencia rallies past Tenerife
Deeper in Spain’s Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season Round 21 schedule, Valencia earned the win, 77-72, against Lenovo Tenerife and went up to 11-10.
Jasiel Rivero was 8/10 from two-point range en route to a game-high 17 points. James Webb III and Jonah Radebaugh added 14 points each. Sharing a team-high on the losing end, Jaime Fernandez and Fran Guerra ended up with 13 points apiece.
The Oranges trailed for the majority of the first half but stormed back from a 15-point deficit by outscoring the visitors, 22-8, in the third quarter. Jared Harper sat out alongside Sam Van Rossom (knee), Millan Jimenez (ankle), Kyle Alexander (ankle), and Martin Hermannsson (knee).
Baskonia matches Barca
Estonian Maik Kotsar put in 19 points, six rebounds, and two assists as Cazoo Baskonia blew out Coviran Granada, 105-81.
Steven Enoch posted a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double, Matt Costello tallied 14 points, and Rokas Giedraitis threw in 14 more points. For the losing side, veteran guard Alex Renfroe scored a game-high 21 points.
Catching Barca in the second spot of the standings, the team guided by Joan Penarroya leaped to 17-4. Pierria Henry (suspension), Tadas Sedekerskis (thigh), and Daulton Hommes did not dress.
