Klemen Prepelic wasn’t part of the Valencia Basket’s team that defeated Girona on the road last Sunday, and Las Provinicas reported he was left out as a disciplinary measure.

The Slovenian player denied those claims and stated he wasn’t suspended or involved in any incidents with his teammates. Now the head coach of Valencia, Alex Mumbru, explained why Prepelic wasn’t with the team.

Since I have been here, I have left James Webb III, Josep Puerto, Jaime Pradilla, Xabi Lopez-Arostegui, and Klemen Prepelic without playing. These are technical decisions. I make them because I think it’s the best for the team and nothing else. There is nothing behind that, and it will continue to be like that until the end of the season,” Mumbru said.

He also added Prepelic is important for his squad.

You are looking for something that doesn’t exist,” the Spanish coach referred to journalist Juan Carlos Villena who published the information. “Klemen is a Valencia player, and I decide if it’s better for him to play or not. I decide on the 12-man roster for a certain game, and someone always does not play. He is an important player, and maybe he was surprised, but I have to make the best decisions for us,” Alex Mumbru concluded.

Valencia continues fighting for the EuroLeague playoffs against Fenerbahce on Thursday in a Round 29 match in La Fonteta.
