In the ACB League Round 27, Joventut Badalona took down Basquet Girona 92-64 before playing the 7DAYS EuroCup Quarter-Finals. However, during the encounter, the promising power forward Leonardo Okeke suffered a very serious injury.
“Leonardo Okeke suffered a posterior dislocation of the right hip with an acetabular fracture and a practically complete muscle rupture of the right pyramid muscle, produced in the final minutes of the game against Bàsquet Girona. The player was taken by ambulance to the hospital where they proceeded to reduce the dislocation and was subjected to different tests that have determined the extent of the injury”, Joventut Badalona’s official statement says.
The 19-year-old talent, who is on a two-year loan from Olimpia Milano, played mostly in the LEB Playa with CB Prat, averaging 13.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. In the ACB League, he played a total of 3:21 minutes in only 3 games, unluckily probably ending his season earlier than expected. He will undergo surgery on April 20.
