Heading to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague’s Final Four via Round 33 of Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season, Real Madrid cruised past Gran Canaria, 95-67, Sunday.

Nearing a new individual high for the 2022-23 season, Fabien Causeur recorded a game-high 19 points behind 6/11 field goals. Mario Hezonja threw in 18 points. Guerschon Yabusele finished with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Improving to 27-5, the team located in Spain’s capital will end up tied with the loser of the game between Cazoo Baskonia and FC Barcelona with only Round 34 remaining on the double-legged round-robin schedule of the Regular Season. Action at Fernando Buesa Arena will tip off at 17:00 CET.

Dzanan Musa along with Vincent Poirier (calf) and Sergio Llull (knee) did not dress in Round 33, but they are all expected to be cleared to play in EuroLeague’s Final Four. In contrast, Carlos Alocen (left knee) and Gabriel Deck (left knee) plus suspended Yabusele will not be available to play in Kaunas.

“We played a very balanced game from start to finish, avoiding significant errors. We were in control and made necessary rotation adjustments,” noted Chus Mateo, “We are going to the Final Four on a high note.”

Scheduled to face archrival Barcelona in Zalgirio Arena Friday, resting players was the additional bonus for Mateo.

Gran Canaria, recently crowned 7DAYS EuroCup champion to clinch a berth in the next edition of EuroLeague, was forced down to 19-14. Projected to claim the sixth or seventh seed, the ACB Playoffs will match the team guided by Jaka Lakovic to Madrid, Barca, or Baskonia in the Quarterfinals.
