Sergio Llull, who was the hero of Real Madrid with a winning basket in the EuroLeague finals that will live long in the memory, made his 1000th appearance for Real Madrid in the clash against Betis. In the basketball section’s history, Felipe Reyes is the only other player to have reached the milestone (1,046). In his 17 seasons as a Madridista, the captain has 25 titles to his name: 3 EuroLeagues, 1 FIBA Intercontinental Cup, 7 League titles, 6 Copas del Rey, and 8 Super Cups.
Of the 1,000 games, 374 have come in the EuroLeague, a competition where he is the Madridista with the most victories 256, the top point-scorer, assist-maker, and three-point-scorer. In the league, he boasts 449 wins in 564 games and also leads Real Madrid’s stats for assists and three-pointers made. The remaining games are spread across 37 in the Copa del Rey, 23 in the Super Cup, and 2 in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. He has won a total of 751 games in our jersey, three behind Felipe Reyes’ record.
Llull is a Real Madrid living legend. A unique player who has defined one of the most successful spells in the club’s history, something he continues to do at 35 years of age. This was clear for all to see at the recent Final Four in Kaunas, where he made the winning shot to defeat Olympiacos in the EuroLeague final.
He arrived at the club at 19 years old in the 2006/07 campaign and evolved under the guidance of Madridismo’s values to become the best player in Europe in 2017 when he was named EuroLeague MVP. On an individual level, he has also been crowned ACB League MVP, Intercontinental Cup MVP, twice MVP in the Copa del Rey, 3-time MVP in the Super Cup, twice ACB finals MVP, as well as being named in the EuroLeague Best Five, and the ACB Best Five on three occasions.
