How’s that for a swing? Unicaja Malaga trailed 13-22 at home in Game 2 of the Spanish ACB quarterfinals vs. Lenovo Tenerife and ultimately won 97 – 74 to sweep the series and book a ticket to the next phase.
It all hapened thanks to a near-incredible second-quarter performance by Malaga that overpowered Tenerife 37 – 14 to close halftime up 50 – 36. The Andalusian side retained the same intensity to expand its lead beyond a 20+ margin and remain the boss until the final buzzer.
Tyler Kalinoski led the charge for Malaga with 21 points, having eight of them in the second period and being the one who mainly kickstarted his team’s comeback. Kendrick Perry took over after the break and finished with 16 points and four assists. Dario Brizuela also had a serious impact by dropping nine out of his 13 points in the decisive second quarter.
Aaron Doorknekamp and Sasu Salin scored 13 apiece for Tenerife. Marcelinho Huertas posted 12 points, four rebounds and four assists.
