Behind Guerschon Yabusele’s 27 points, the European champions got back on the winning track with a 90-73 Game 2 victory to tie the series before moving to Badalona.
The Frenchman was unstoppable and managed to grab eight rebounds on its way, spending 38 minutes on the floor. Mario Hezonja followed him with 15 points and seven boards, while Edy Tavares was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 11 points.
Another great news for Real Madrid is that Vincent Poirier got back to the team after almost two months of being out and scored six points with four rebounds.
Guy scored just five points this time, as Henry Ellenson led the losing side with 17 points; Andres Feliz followed him with 15, Joel Parra added 13 with seven boars, and Ante Tomic scored 12 points.
Madrid quickly gained control, taking a 22-12 lead already in the first quarter, but Joventut responded in the final minutes of the second period, turning the score around before halftime to 40-36.
After a tough battle in the third period, the hosts regained the lead and entered the decisive period with a 63-59 advantage. In the final 10 minutes, Chus Mateo’s players pushed even harder, quickly improved their lead to 85-69, and called it a night.
Game 3 of the ACB semifinal best-of-five series in Badalona is scheduled for Saturday, June 10, at 18.30 CET. In another semifinal duel, Barcelona took the lead over Unicaja.
