This a reference to the Euroleague brawl in the playoffs against Partizan when Guerschon Yabusele bodyslammed Dante Exum after which he was punished with a five-game suspension.

The ACB expresses deep regret regarding the chants that were audible during the Joventut-Real game, where a part of the stands targeted Guerschon Yabusele with offensive remarks,” per the League statement.

The referees have recorded this incident in the official match report, starting the standard process within the Competition Committee of the Spanish Basketball Federation for ACB competitions. Additionally, the ACB will submit a detailed report to the Anti-Violence Commission,” the announcement concluded.

Later on, Joventut Badalona replied via an official club statement, condemning the chants against Yabusele. “In relation to the match between Joventut Badalona and Real Madrid held yesterday, Club Joventut Badalona expresses its total disgust at the chants and insults carried out by a part of the stands against a player of the opposing team. We also want to state that, immediately after those chants took place, from the Club, proactively, measures were taken and appropriate instructions were given for the termination of these, to the point that they stopped producing yes and no were repeated”, the press release says.

Moreover, the green-and-black team expressed its disappointment due to the culture of the club and of its fanbase. “This type of attitude is not congruent with the values of the Penya, based on a deep respect for those involved in sports competitions, both organizers and refereeing teams, rivals, and fans, own and of the opposing team”, the official Joventut Badalona’s statement goes on.

“Finally, from the Club, we reiterate our strongest rejection of this type of behavior in our facilities and on any of the courts where our teams play their matches. For this reason, we ask our fans who attend the Palau Olímpic tomorrow, Monday, to encourage our first team as much as possible to beat the opponent sportingly and thus force the fifth match of the tie, demanding at the same time that they abstain to insult any participant, either verbally or through banners in the Olympic Palace. Being the birthplace of basketball represents a great honor, but it also carries an immense responsibility. We must guard, honor and follow the values with which the Club was founded in 1930, among them, those of respect and coexistence, to continue to be an example of sportsmanship. Force Peña!”, the press release ends.
