Former No. 3 pick Jahlil Okafor signed in Spain with ACB side Casademont Zaragoza, the club announced. The 27-year-old center penned a deal for 2023-24 to make his debut on European ground and compete in what is widely considered the best domestic league outside the NBA.
After he was selected third overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, Okafor spent six seasons in the NBA, averaging 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds over 247 appearances. He had a standout production of 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in his first year, being named to the All-NBA Rookie Team but his numbers dwindled after that season.
In 2022 and after being unable to find an NBA contract, Okafor signed in China with the Zhejiang Lions.
Okafor last played in the NBA G-League with the Mexico City Captains, posting 20.9 points and 8.1 rebounds in 2022-23.
Apart from the Sixers, Okafor also had stints with the Brooklyn Nets, New Orleans Pelicans and the Detroit Pistons. In 2021, he participated in the Tokyo Olympic Games with the Nigerian national team.
