The defending EuroLeague champions’ undefeated streak finally came to an end at home against Unicaja.
The Malaga team snapped Real Madrid‘s streak of 19 victories in all competitions with a 93-99 score at WiZink center, marking their ninth consecutive victory in the ACB League and Basketball Champions League.
David Kravish played a crucial role as the executioner for Real Madrid, scoring 23 points and grabbing six rebounds in Unicaja‘s seventh win in the Spanish championship. Kameron Taylor followed him with 14 points, and Tyler Kalinoski added 11 points for the victorious side.
In the first match after Guerschon Yabusele’s injury, Mario Hezonja scored 14 points for the team from the Spanish capital, while Facundo Campazzo stopped at 12 points with six assists. Sergio Rodriguez also contributed with 11 points.
In the first 20 minutes, it seemed unlikely that the Madrid side would lose. Winning the second quarter 29-13, they went into halftime with a 54-39 lead, setting the stage for what looked like their 20th consecutive win. Even as their advantage reached 62-41 in the third period, Unicaja mounted a comeback with an 11-2 run. Although Real Madrid repelled their push and entered the final period with a 72-66 lead, the Malaga team persevered, ultimately turning the score around to secure a significant road win in Madrid.
