Dealing with an injury for most of the 2023-24 campaign, Jaylen Hands opts for a change of scenery from Peristeri bwin to Zunder Palencia.
Hands, 25, is set to move to Palencia, as confirmed by Eurohoops sources.
The former UCLA standout joined forces with head coach Vassilis Spanoulis in June. Following up on a solid debut season in the Basketball Champions League as a leading member of PAOK mateco, he averaged 15.0 points per contest with Peristeri over six games played in the 2023-24 edition of FIBA Europe’s top-tier club continental competition. In Greece’s Stoiximan Basket League, he put up 12.0 points per game over nine appearances.
Chema de Lucas first reported on Hands nearing a deal to resume action in Spain’s Liga Endesa.
The explosive guard will debut in the prestigious ACB, the strongest domestic league in Europe. Stuck at the bottom of the standings with a 4-18 W-L tally, his new side is battling to avoid relegation. Twelve games remain in the double-legged round-robin schedule of the Regular Season, after resuming action in March, following the midseason break with international games and domestic Cups across the Old Continent.
Hands was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 56th pick of the 2019 NBA draft. He started his professional career in the G League with the Long Island Nets. In 2020-21 and 2021-22, he went from Serbia and FMP to Germany’s MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg and Belgium’s Telenet Giants Antwerp.
